My friend Rei sent me these song lyrics. Some of you might find the music hard to digest... also being made in the "Image of God" does not make us god... that said, I think in the long lens of history, the Churches that have taken a clear stand against all war will have to be recognized as closer to a vision of humanity in the image of God. I am personally glad that the north won against the south in the American Civil war. The Quakers stopped participating in slavery before that war (Thanks to the work of John Woolman), and were trusted to pick up the dead and the dying of the battle fields during the war. The Mennonites have a similar history of resisting the whole involvement with war.

An ethic of power concerns me. If we win this war, will others aspire to be like us in military power... in a hundred years...
The race to be the most powerful leads to a dead end alley with no exit. Nukes were a warning about this direction. Peace Making must resist evil. The danger of using force is that we become like what we fear.

A power orientation also destroys reciprocity. Jesus came as a baby; this is how God approaches us, because he wants intimate relationship with us. We cannot control others with fear and truly be close to them. It is more noble to die like Christ for love than to die for war. In studies about marriage relationships, if power becomes the center of the relationship, the peson who cares the least for the relationship ends up having the most power. This can kill the quality of life within the relationship.

The lyrics are from the band, "System of a Down" the album name is "steal this album" the song is call BOOM!

Boom!
I've been walking through your streets,
Where all your money's earning,
Where all your building's crying
And clueless neckties working,
Revolving fake lawn houses,
Housing all your fears,
Desensitized by TV,
Overbearing advertising,
God of consumerism,
And all your crooked pictures
Looking good, mirrorism,
Filtering information,
For the public eye,
Designed for profiteering,
Your neighbor, what a guy.

BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM,
Every time you drop the bomb,
You kill the god your child has born,
BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM.

Modern globalization,
Coupled with condemnations,
Unnecessary death,
Matador corporations,
Puppeting your frustrations,
With the blinded flag,
Manufacturing consent,
Is the name of the game,
The bottom line is money,
Nobody gives a fuck.
4000 hungry children leave us per hour,
From starvation,
While billions are spent on bombs,
Creating death showers.

BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM,
Every time you drop the bomb,
You kill the god your child has born,
BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM
BOOM/BOOM/BOOM/BOOM/BOOM/BOOM/BOOM

Why, why, why, why must we kill, kill, kill, kill
Our own, own, own, own kind...

BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM,
Every time you drop the bomb,
You kill the god your child has born,
BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM
BOOM/BOOM/BOOM/BOOM/BOOM/BOOM/BOOM
Every time you drop the bomb.
